wrx/ sti's specifically if you can. if not, subaru in general is fine.
my ex is obsessed with his STI - more than me or our son. he thinks his vehicle is some kind of priceless, worship-able, wonderful thing.

edit: I just thought of something: A Mitsubishi Evo is much superior to the Subaru STI. You should purchase an Evo for yourself and give the hubby a taste of your dust .

When you compare it to a baby or a nagging wife, it's easy to see why he thinks it's wonderful. Seriously stop trying to ruin his fun because you want attention. There’s always a better automobile out there but Subarus are pretty well made. I have a crummy old subaru brat as a second car with 217k on it. That was before the odometer broke so who knows now. And evos are only an edge faster, but not almost as reliable or good looking. When my ex fiance complained about me fishing and working on my car I came to the realization that
1) My car can get me a new girfriend
2)the car is cheaper to maintain
3) I have the ability to bring home another car and it won't get pissed

I’ve a 2007 WRX non-STI model. With the exception of the more powerful engine, I/C water spray, and perhaps the blue interior, they’ve similar body panels.
Bad stuff? Only 2 things. Cheap interior components that scratch up easily or tend to rattle and squeak. The other one is low fuel mileage, in addition to having to use premium fuel. Something that is becoming more serious as fuel prices rise.
One more thing, though. Down the road, you'll pay through the roof on maintenance. Clutch replacement is about $1000 . AND, once worn out, you must replace ALL FOUR TIRES at the same time, or you'll fry out the differential.
Other than that, I would not trade the blasting 'fun-to-drive' factor for anything. Except maybe for a Corvette or a Ferrari 360 CS if I ever can afford it.
Bottom line: If you can't handle his car-loving side, I see separation in the future. Unless he's not taking you out to dinner or mistreating you or your son, I don't see why this would be a huge deal. Good luck!

There’s no other automobile with a superior build quality and better bang for the buck. I know the V* rednecks in denial like to speak **** about the imports and for the most part they are right but the STI is one of a few that can be made to beat exotic automobiles for less than $40,000 and it's a fact. Let your hubby enjoy his hobby and leave him alone. What pleasure are you looking for by looking for dirt on something he loves? I'm sure you’ve some things you like that makes no sense to many people.Why not put a little more effort into being a loving and supporting wife instead of doing this?

Sorry, but Subaru is a very reliable brand. As great as Honda and Toyota.
And they went to Porsche for help with developing their engines and turbochargers.
The STI has a turbocharged engine and is the most reliable automobile that fast that you can purchase for under $35,000 new.
And it is All Wheel Drive.
If you want him to pay more attention to you then threaten to leave him. That should work.

your ex is right. j/k but in all seriousness he adores the car because it is a cheap mans sports vehicle. AWD turbo madness. i am actually getting one in a few months. the older ones had problems with a few things like the tranny but they're getting the bugs fixed out.

Why would you try to go and take away one of the only things the guy has left? Being into imports and more specifically Subaru’s is a way of life! Some people get cars to go from point A to point B. Some others get cars to accessorize them self’s. I truly have never heard any serious complaints about any Subaru ever! The Impreza WRX STI is an extraordinary machine and quite literally a bench mark in design! All import and compact sports vehicles these days are designed in mined of this vehicle. Fined dirt on any Subaru from ME you will not!
