It's time for a new car and we might as well go fuel efficient. We have the ability to order and wait a few months- so that's not an issue. She has test driven the Prius and enjoys it (I think it drives like crap), and everyone that has one seems to love them.

But- I'd much rather her have a Jetta TDI. Other than the test drive (which she hasn't had yet, but has agreed to), what are the good arguments towards a Jetta TDI over a Prius.

1. you can use biodiesel?

2. Drives a lot superior?

3. Safer? (don't know)

4. reliability? (don't know)

Answer:
I got a TDI 1998 with 120,000mi. first i dont have no problems with it. second: fuel economy about 46mpg. I like the TDI. Just take care of the automobile and it will run like new.

Answer:
Not an answer as much as a comment, but in terms of environmentalism, biodiesel is the subject of a massive amount of debate. It's positive environmental impact is actually negligible since it takes 100 units of conventional energy (eg oil) to produce 110 units of biodiesel, and the use of the world's biggest corn producer (the USA) to make biofuels has had a sharp effect on the cost of food, leading to increased suffering in the 3rd world and the cost of your weekly shop increasing.

Answer:
My sister has a 2007 Jetta Wulfsberg edition. The car hasn't had one problem and it already has 25k miles on it. I know it did breathtaking in crash tests. 4 star front, 5 star side, not sure on roll over. Also the Jetta has a ton more features then that tin can Toyota garbage. Also, my aunt has the prius hybrid and its all over the road in the snow, and the Jetta actually wasn't that bad considering its front wheel drive. Good Luck…PLEASE CONVINCE HER!

Answer:
have her test drive the prius and then the volkswagen, the vw handles much superior there’s hardly no body roll. Vw's are a lot safer. Japanese vehicles are like riding in tin cans.I could go on all day about how much superior the vw is.Just go test drive one……

Answer:
