this is a worry as i am driving obviously and suddenly going nowhere.i have to pull up and select reverse gear(only gear it goes into to)and there is a loud banging noise then gear box seems ok again.any ideas anyone?

could be yor clutch
does it go into all gears when the engine is off?
try putting it in 1st with engine off then put the clutch in and try to start it - if it lurches forward then your clutch is worn or knackered and either needs replacing or adjusting
